I’ve spent the past several decades orbiting the music retail side of what was once fondly remembered as the music industry, starting in 1980 at a Record Bar in Leesburg, FL before moving into a buying gig in the home office of that fabled chain a few years later. And that led to buying gigs with various retailers (The Wall, Tower), a wholesaler (Valley Media), an internet behemoth (Amazon) and several years doing a little bit of everything with a specialty online vinyl-only retailer (Audiophile International). As you will hopefully notice, I am extremely detailed about my listings, aiming for complete transparency. There is no guessing as to what pressing you’re getting, what the vinyl looks like or the condition of the jacket. It’s all there in the description, and I stand behind every listing. The items I offer for sale are either taken from my personal collection or have been carefully culled from, well, wherever. LPs, CDs, 7 singles, cassettes, ephemera, promo tchotchkes, whatever. The vast majority of what I sell is in VG+ condition or better, unless its rarified. And again, if the item has an issue(s), it will be clearly detailed. I am readily available by email. If you have a question, I have an answer. Cool? Cool. If you need it to ship via an alternative method, that is not a problem. Just lemme know, they will be done. All shipments to territories outsde the US are sent via USPS First Class Package International Mail, and I apologize in advance for the financial pain. It remainsl the most cost effective method available to get a package from the states to you. Sales tax (8.75%) collected on all orders sent to addresses within the state of CA. In addition, descriptions are very detailed and expand upon a simple grade, which typically still leaves questions. While I don’t play everything, anything that looks like a potential problem gets a spin. Sealed items are noted as SS, and any jacket/sleeve issues that may exist are noted in the description. Otherwise... Mint (M)...Don’t use this very often. Jacket is perfect and vinyl in unplayed condition. Near Mint (NM)...Jacket may have the slightest of imperfections; vinyl basically free of defects, may have extremely slight scuff. No playback issues. VG++...Jacket may have minor imperfection, emphasis on minor: vinyl will have one or two surface marks but will play with no issues. VG+...Jacket will show some signs of aging/wear, dents, promo marks (cut corner, saw-cut, cut-out hole); vinyl will have some surface markings which do not affect play. VG...Jacket may have obvious defects including writing, tape, slight staining or tearing; vinyl will have several marks: play will be acceptable but may include some surface noise or pops. G...Good. Or, um, not good. You will rarely see this grade from me as I find selling items in this condition a waste of time. Unless, of course, it’s uber rare. Goldmine Grading Standard: Mint [M]: Absolutely perfect in every way - certainly never played, possibly even still sealed. (More on still sealed below). Should be used sparingly as a grade, if at all.Near Mint [NM or M-]: A nearly perfect record. Many dealers won’t give a grade higher than this implying (perhaps correctly) that no record is ever truly perfect. The record shows no obvious sign of wear. A 45 rpm sleeve has no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling. An LP jacket has no creases, folds, seam splits or any other noticeable similar defect. No cut-out holes, either. And of course, the same is true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves, and the like. Basically, Near Mint looks as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed the shrink wrap.Very Good Plus [VG+]: Shows some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don’t affect one’s listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but is should be barely noticeable. The center hole is not misshapen by repeated play. Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turn-up corners, or a slight seam-split. An LP jacket my have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount. In general, if not for a couple of minor things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint. All but the most mint-crazy collectors will find a Very Good Plus record highly acceptable.Very Good [VG]: Many of the defects found in a VG+ record are more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise is evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during the song’s intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or...
